Bio
J. Allen Graham

I started out playing with a group of my friends in high school, when I was around the age of 15. We started playing mostly rock music from the 80's and 90's. Everything from G'n'R to STP plus original material, that sadly enough I do not have any recordings of, but that would be interesting to listen to. Also during this time while I was in high school I played upright or contra bass in the high-school symphony. We played everything from Mozart to Brahms. It was more like orchestra for kids but we had lots of fun and I learned a lot. I was also in the high-school jazz band, and we played everything from Bird to Weather Report. I graduated high school in 1998 and that fall-started college at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Where I began as a music student, which lasted for about 2 years, before becoming an Audio Major and studying under Grammy Winner, Jeff Francis, which I finally got my degree in 2003. I attended Victor Wooten's First Bass/Nature Camp in 2000 and the first Reunion BNC in 2002. I learned a vast majority of what I do from those ten or so days, I spent with Victor, Steve, Adam, the Buddha, Mike Pope, and Chuck. During college I was in and band called Encaustic. We did some East Coast touring during the summers and made a CD (A Shadow's Pull). Some of the music for this group is on my play list. After Encaustic's time was through my friends went on to start another band, I Nine, which is on it's way to being very successful. After college I moved to Santa Fe, NM. I got to play with some great musicians out there as well. Such as Ramon Bermudez, NM artist of the year 98 with his Cd "Fuego En El Alma" which is one my favorite all time Cd's, though I didn't play on it. ;) Ramon is a dear friend of mine and I loved every show I did with him, he is a true artist. Also while I was in Santa Fe, I met another wonderful musician and songwriter named Lewin Barringer. Together with Bjorn we started a band called Broken Trophy and with the help of Producer Simon Widdowson made an album which I was thrilled and very lucky to play on called "Broken Trophy: Out Here and Alone". Broken Trophy is now a European based band, out of Italy. I had the pleasure of playing some dates in Berlin with them in March 2005. Also this past year I worked at the Newberry Operahouse in Newberry, SC. That was also a wonderful experience. I was the head sound/audio engineer there for the 2004-2005 season. We did around 200 shows in 8 months.
